Source Reconciliation

How SuperVisor's Source Reconciliation Works

SuperVisor provides a number of tools for aligning source and objects. These tools extract source and object information and generate a database that can be used in subsequent processes. Perhaps the most daunting scenario is one where the source for some objects are apparently lost and multiple source members are present for others. SuperVisor's Object Source Search facility addresses this situation directly as shown in the figure below.

Reconciling source to object is a common requirement. It should be done when:

  • A change management system is being implemented.
  • A major modification or enhancement is being planned.
  • A revitalization or modernization project is underway.

Other Reconciliation Scenarios

There are any number scenarios where source and objects must be matched. For examples:

  1. Source is moved to a new source file or library in mass.
  2. Finding the objects for a complement of source members.
  3. A modified 3rd party application suite is being upgraded to a new release modified members need to be identified.

In any case a manual reconciliation is impractical.  The ability to use SuperVisor tools in user written programs makes it possible to automate nearly every aspect of the process. Furthermore these corrections can be made without having to recompile.
